Everyone who uses a computer need’s to be linked up with the internet which is connected up to the phone line, however you can also connect using wireless. For example SKY, talk talk, BT etc are internet service providers. They send out a pack to the user which contains a router. For example if a user has BT they get three features + unlimited UK evening and Wknd calls and £3.15 a month and line rental. What is a Domain Structure and Domain Name?

A domain structure is the name that is given to the website as all domain names have to have an IP address link. This is were the computer uses a number to know what it is looking for as on the computer it comes up in word so we can understand it. As all domain has to have a domain name and there can be only one of them. For example www.primark.co.uk as this is a website and the domain name is Primark. In addition to this all domains are read from the right to left as is back to front.

As all domain are broken down in to different levels one, level two and third level. The first level domain is a single word as all websites will use them for example uk, com, org and etc. They are at the end of the website address as they are codes.

Second level domain: A second level domain informs the computer what type of organization the user is look for.

Third level domain names: It is the registered name of the website

To have a domain name you have to use a registration by an agent to get one. There are many organizations who specialize in registering a domain.

Web host services

A web host service is a type of internet hosting service that allows individual people and organizations to make their own website easy to get to on the World Wide Web. As the web hosts are company which provides space on a server owned or leased for the use by clients.

World Wide Web

The term WWW means the World Wide Web. The World Wide Wed is part of the internet that contains the websites. There are millions of websites online as they are made up of many different pages. As there are common elements which is associated with a web page such as

• Navigation bar
• Banner
• Content
• Footer

Within a navigation bar there are three elements they are hotspot, hyperlink and menus.

Hyperlink is were a person link one page to another page to make there website more user friendly for the people. As some people can associate a hyperlink to n external link.

 

Hotspots are the same as hyperlinks. The only main difference is that a hotspot is a picture hyperlink it is easily to spot a hotspot because the mouse will change to a hand.
